Mandrels are carrier instruments for mounting separating and polishing discs, abrasive paper discs and prophylaxis elements. Precise concentricity and a secure fit allow fast disc changes and low-vibration work in clinic and laboratory.
Available in screw-on and snap-on versions, robustly made from stainless steel, for RA and HP shanks.
Direct from the Swiss manufacturer in Appenzell. Swiss made to ISO 13485, CE-MDR, stock items ready to ship within 48 hours.
The mounting type decides, not the diameter. Screw mandrels hold firmly and permanently, snap-on carriers allow fast changes.
| Mounting | Typical use | Advantage |
|---|---|---|
| Screw mandrel | Separating discs, high load | Secure hold under lateral force |
| Snap-on | Polishing discs, frequent changes | Fast change without tools |
| RA shank | Clinic, contra-angle handpiece | Controlled work on the patient |
| HP shank | Laboratory, straight handpiece | Larger discs, higher removal |
Because every imbalance arrives as vibration. A disc that does not run centrally cuts unevenly and breaks sooner.
A bent or worn mandrel transfers this to every disc you mount. If discs break unusually quickly, check the carrier first rather than the discs.
When the disc no longer sits firmly or the instrument visibly wobbles. Both symptoms lead to breakage and are a safety risk.
Check the thread or the snap fit regularly. A mandrel costs a fraction of what a failed cut on the workpiece costs.
Lying flat and fully screwed on or snapped in. A disc sitting at an angle jams on first contact.
No. The mounting type and the bore diameter of the disc are decisive. Check both before combining them.
The stainless steel versions are designed for validated reprocessing. The specification is given with each item.
Matching discs are available under separating discs, and matching polishing bodies under polishers.
