Surgical instruments by rotatec are designed for oral and dental surgery: osteotomy, root separation, bone work and preparations in implant surgery. The Lindemann bur is the standard instrument here.
High cutting efficiency, defined blade geometry and a sterilisable design ensure safe work under surgical conditions. The long shank provides access even in the posterior region.
Direct from the Swiss manufacturer in Appenzell. Swiss made to ISO 13485, CE-MDR, stock items ready to ship within 48 hours.

The Lindemann bur covers most of oral surgery because it cuts both at the tip and laterally. For broad bone removal you reach for the bone cutter, and for removing restorations for the crown cutter.
| Procedure | Instrument | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Osteotomy | Lindemann bur, bone cutter | Continuous cooling, light contact pressure |
| Root separation | Lindemann bur | Lateral cutting, long shank for access |
| Wisdom tooth removal | Lindemann bur, fine and long | Small bone defect, targeted root removal |
| Alveolar ridge smoothing | Bone cutter | Broad, even removal |
| Apicoectomy | Lindemann bur | Controlled cutting at the apex |
For carbide burs in surgery the range is 5,000 to 40,000 revolutions per minute. What matters is continuous cooling, not maximum speed.
Anyone wanting to work faster usually increases pressure. That is the wrong approach: pressure generates heat, and heat above 47 degrees endangers bone vitality. The Lindemann bur is designed for swift work at low pressure because its spiral fluting transports the chips away by itself.
The instruments are sterilisable and can be reused when reprocessed by a validated procedure. Check the cutting performance before every use and replace instruments that require more pressure than usual.
Stock items at rotatec are ready to ship within 48 hours, directly from the manufacturer in Appenzell and without the detour via a depot. This matters particularly when a procedure is scheduled and the instrument is missing at short notice.
Because the bone defect is smaller. With fine, long Lindemann burs the root can be removed rather than the bone bed, and postoperative swelling barely occurs.
There is also the working posture: because little pressure is applied, the surgeon can concentrate on precise guidance rather than force. That translates directly into precision at the bone.
The extended shank for the surgical contra-angle handpiece, the HP shank for the straight handpiece. Length determines access, particularly with impacted wisdom teeth.
This page can be filtered by shank type. Make sure the maximum speed of the instrument matches the transmission ratio of your handpiece.
Clean immediately after the procedure, before blood and bone chips dry on. Then reprocess and sterilise by a validated procedure, as far as the instruments allow.
Check the blades before every use. A bur that requires more pressure than usual is no longer cutting cleanly and generates heat instead of cutting performance. For removing restorations we offer separate crown cutters, and for restorative treatment carbide burs.
Alongside the standard length we offer extended versions for difficult access, for example with impacted wisdom teeth. This page can be filtered by length and shank type.
