Since 1980 we have been manufacturing high-performance rotary instruments specifically for dentistry and dental technology. In response to growing customer needs, the production lines for carbide, diamond and polishing systems have been systematically expanded in recent years. Our production focuses on the processing of sintered carbide, steel, natural diamond and natural rubber elements together with the corresponding synthetic resin bonds.

Continuous reinvestment in our products and manufacturing processes, combined with the personal commitment of our employees, has earned us a strong position in the market. Our core markets are the German-speaking DACH region, Switzerland and Germany. History

  1. Foundation of Orthodontics GmbH

    Since its founding year, Orthodontics GmbH has been dedicated to rotary dental instruments. The vision of the founders, Mrs Erika Rohrer and Mr R. Rohrer, was to provide a practical problem solver for every customer need in dental practices and laboratories. In its first years the company focused on diamond instruments, carbide instruments and polishing systems.

  2. Development of customised products

    Our co-founder Mr R. Rohrer drives the development of customised products for rotatec. These developments are based on direct market feedback and close cooperation with suppliers. From then on, Orthodontics GmbH offers unique problem solvers for the dental industry in addition to a standard range of rotary instruments.

  3. Launch of in-house production of diamond instruments

    Orthodontics develops its own production line for coating steel blanks. Various steel blanks are refined by galvanic diamond coating. Step by step, the portfolio is brought into in-house production to react more flexibly to current industry trends.

  4. Completion of the carbide instrument production line

    Orthodontics develops its own production line for carbide instruments and builds up in-depth expertise in the machining of carbide.

  5. Completion of the polishing instrument production line

    To complete the product portfolio, Orthodontics develops its own production line for polishing instruments, focusing on combining a wide variety of abrasives and bonds to create material-specific polishing systems.

  6. Relocation of the company to Switzerland

    With its focus on the Swiss market, Orthodontics begins relocating its headquarters to Switzerland. Large parts of production follow.

  7. Renaming to rotatec GmbH

    As part of a restructuring, Orthodontics becomes rotatec. The new company logo and name communicate the specialisation in rotary instruments more strongly.

    2023 marks the start of a major modernisation project within rotatec. To further develop services and products and open up new customer segments, not only the corporate identity but also internal processes are being modernised and digitalised.
