Polishers by rotatec bring composite, ceramics and metal to a high gloss. The abrasive-impregnated instruments work without additional polishing paste and can be used in clinic and laboratory.
Multi-step polishing systems lead, in the intended sequence, to a smooth, plaque-resistant surface. Various shapes and hardness grades cover every indication, and the colour coding shows the polishing step.

Each step removes the scratches of the previous one. If a step is skipped, the coarser structure remains visible and the high gloss never appears.
| Step | Purpose | Recognisable by |
|---|---|---|
| Finishing | Working out contour and margin | Shape is right, surface still matt |
| Pre-polishing | Levelling the scratches from finishing | Evenly matt surface |
| High-gloss polishing | Smoothing the surface | Silky matt sheen |
| Fine polishing | Creating the final gloss | Mirror-like surface |
With light pressure and low speed. For composite polishing, 8,000 revolutions per minute should not be exceeded.
Higher speed generates heat, and heat smears the composite surface instead of smoothing it. This shows as a milky haze that further steps can no longer remove. Polish in each step until no further improvement is visible, then change.
No. Ceramics require different bonds and grits than composite because they are harder and more brittle.
A composite polisher wears down quickly on ceramics without smoothing them. Conversely, a ceramic polisher removes too much from composite and destroys the contour. This page can be filtered by the material to be worked on.
No. The polishers are impregnated with abrasive and work without paste. For professional cleaning with prophylaxis paste we offer separate cups and brushes.
Narrow, flame-shaped or disc-shaped polishers reach the proximal space without touching the adjacent tooth surface. This page can be filtered by shape.
When the surface glazes over or the gloss fails to appear. A polisher that only warms the surface is no longer working.
Many polishers can be reprocessed but lose effectiveness with each cycle, because the abrasive is washed out. Shape retention is a second criterion: a cup that has lost its contour no longer reaches the fissures.
Polishing does not repair contour. Whatever the finishing bur has not achieved in shape and margin, no polisher will fix.
Polishing begins only once shape and margin are correct. For professional cleaning we offer prophylaxis instruments, and for fissures and hard-to-reach areas brushes.
By the colour: the colour coding distinguishes pre-polishing, high gloss and fine polishing. In the tray this lets you follow the sequence without mixing up instruments.
