rotatec GmbH is a leading company for the production and distribution of rotating dental precision instruments with headquarters in Switzerland in the middle of Appenzell.
As an ISO 13485 certified company, quality is our top priority. All our products are CE certified and comply with the latest international standards. Since 1980, high-performance rotary instruments have been manufactured specifically for the fields of dentistry and dental technology. Due to increased customer requirements, the production lines of the products carbide, diamond and polishing systems have been systematically expanded in recent years. The focus of the production of our instruments is on the processing of sintered tungsten carbide, steel, natural diamond and elements made of natural rubber as well as the corresponding synthetic resin bonds. Continuous reinvestment in the products and their manufacturing processes as well as the personal commitment of the employees lead to the qualitatively strong position in the market. The core markets are in the German-speaking roof region of Switzerland and Germany. History

Foundation of Orthodontics GmbH
Orthodontics GmbH has been engaged in the distribution of rotary dental instruments since its founding year. The vision of the founders Mrs. Erika and Mr. R. Rohrer was already at that time to provide a practical problem solver for every customer need in dental practices and laboratories. In the first years after the foundation the company started as a pure distributor for diamond instruments, carbide instruments and polishing systems.

Development of individual products
Our co-founder Mr. R. Rohrer drives the development of individual products for rotatec. The basis for these developments is the collected, direct feedback from the market and a close cooperation with suppliers. From now on, Orthodontics GmbH offers unique problem solvers in the dental industry, in addition to a standard selection of rotary instruments.

Start of own production line for diamond instruments
Orthodontics develops its own production line for coating steel blanks. Various steel blanks are refined by electroplated diamond coating. From now on, the portfolio will be shifted piece by piece to the company’s own production in order to be able to react more flexibly to current industry trends.

Completion of the production line for tungsten carbide instruments
Orthodontics develops its own production line for carbide instruments. In-depth competences in abrasive manufacturing for tungsten carbide are developed. From now on, the portfolio will be shifted piece by piece to the company’s own production in order to be able to react more flexibly to current industry trends.

Completion of the production line for polishing instruments
To complete the product portfolio, Orthodontics develops its own production line for polishing instruments. The focus is on the combination of different abrasives and bonds for the production of material-specific polishing systems.

Transfer of the company to Switzerland
Due to the focus on the Swiss market, Orthodontics begins the transfer of its headquarters to Switzerland. Large parts of the production follow.

Renaming to rotatec GmbH
Orthodontics becomes rotatec in the course of a restructuring. With the change of the company logo and name, the specialisation in rotary instruments is to be communicated more strongly.

Restructuring of rotatec GmbH
2023 marks the start of a large-scale modernisation project within rotatec. In order to be able to further develop services and products in the future and open up to new customer segments, not only the CI but also internal processes will be modernised and digitalised.
